Dear Busy Mom!

As I write this letter, I’m not only writing to you, I’m writing to myself years ago when I was a busy mom.

Hi!  I’m Laura Geis, founder of Make Believe Mom.  I help busy moms manage their time and organize their stuff so they can enjoy their lives.

Do you ever feel like you’re living in survival mode, where your biggest goal of the day is to simply get through the day?  (If you have a newborn, your biggest goal of the day may be to shower and brush your teeth.)

Do you have goals you’d like to achieve, but can’t find the time to work on them?  Would you like to redecorate a room in your house, write a book, or start your own business?

Do you feel that giving everything to your family sometimes leaves you feeling a little empty inside?

Do you feel guilty when you spend  time doing something just for you?

Do you ever feel like you're juggling so many plates in the air - being a wife, a mother, a housekeeper, and a chauffeur - that when you focus your attention on one area the other plates come crashing down?

If so, I completely understand.  That was me when I was a young, stay-at-home mom.

Up until the time I became a mother, my time was mostly planned for me.  Like many of you, during my school-age years, my schedule was dictated by school hours, sports and music lessons.  In college, I had a class schedule, study schedule, and work schedule with a little bit of spare time leftover for fun.

Then, my first baby came and, suddenly, life wasn’t about me anymore.  I remember going to my son’s 6 month well-check with the pediatrician.

“Do you have any questions for me?” she asked.

“Yes, I do.  Now that William isn’t sleeping most of the day, how do I find time to clean the house and cook a meal?”

You see, up until that time, the ONLY time I did anything other than take care of and entertain my son was when he was sleeping.

Soon, more babies came along - Teddy, Emma, Maggie, Nate, George and Ryan.  It was during this stage of life that I realized I needed a crash course in how to manage my time.

The first resource I turned to on my search for time management tips was a book written by a mom with a large family.  It was full of advice on how to create a daily schedule.  She literally planned every minute of her day.  I used her time templates to create a daily schedule for my family, but gave up after only about two days.  The rigid schedule did not give me more time.  It gave me more stress!

I started reading every book I could find about time management and attended time management webinars online.  The problem with these resources was that they were mainly written by men for men who are in the business world, not for a woman who is struggling to put the evening meal on the table each night while helping kids with homework.

When I couldn’t find a book, a course, or a seminar on time management designed especially for moms, I turned my attention to finding the perfect planner.  Surely that would help my situation.

I was disappointed once again!  Don’t you just hate spiral-bound books?  The binding is always wriggling itself off the pages and poking you in the process?  So, I quickly crossed all spiral-bound planners off my list. Besides, most of the planners were simply glorified calendars.  I didn’t need a calendar.  I needed a proactive way of planning my time rather than reacting to whatever was happening in the moment each day.

Finally, I came up with a great idea!  Instead of waiting to see what I felt like doing each day, I spent a few minutes on Sunday afternoon loosely mapping my time for the coming week - nothing too rigid, but something to focus my attention each day.

Soon, the moms in my playgroup noticed my increased productivity and my general sense of accomplishment.  They asked about my new “time management strategy.”   When I showed them my simple system for planning my week, their eyes widened, the lightbulbs went off and they walked away with hope that they might just master this mommy vocation after all.

Helping my friends in this way was super satisfying for me.  I’m not one to hide a good thing when I find it.  If I find shoes that look great and are ultra-comfortable, you can bet that I will tell you about them.  And yes, I am happy to share my special dinner roll recipe with you.

As my kids grew up and began leaving the house, I prayed about what God had in store for me next.  I was reminded of a time years earlier when I taught a ladies’ Bible study.  I really enjoyed working with women, especially moms who had young children at home.  It was natural for me to decide to share my timesaving tips and techniques with other busy moms.  Now, it’s my goal to create timesaving resources for busy moms, the resources I searched and searched for years ago.

I’ve written a signature online course brimming with time management tips and techniques for busy moms.  I’ve designed a fully-personalized downloadable planner for busy moms.  I’m currently writing a meal planning book for busy moms.

All of these resources are great, but sometimes you just want a quick win.

As I reflect back on my early years of motherhood, the time management technique that made the biggest difference in my life was creating a one-page worksheet that I use to plan my week in less than 10 minutes.  I now work full-time during the school year as the Director of School Counseling at a local private school.  I still use a variation of the worksheet and planning method that I created over twenty years ago.  The method is timeless.  The results are astounding!

I want to teach this method to as many moms as possible because it made such a difference in my life.  That’s why I designed MomPlan: The One-Page Method, a short and simple online course that teaches you my weekly time management strategy, a tool that would have been so much help to me when I was a busy young mom.

Here’s what the course includes:

In MomPlan Video 1, you’ll:

  • learn how using the MomPlan Method can help with your relationship goals, health goals and financial goals
  • learn how 1 piece of paper and less than 10 minutes are all you need to use the MomPlan Method.

I’m including the MomPlan One-Page Worksheet to help you get started.

In MomPlan Video 2, you’ll:

  • learn the first step of creating your MomPlan - tracking daily chores
  • begin customizing your MomPlan to make it work for YOU

I’m including a copy of my MomPlan with my daily chores for you to use as inspiration.

In MomPlan Video 3, you’ll:

  • Complete the second step of creating you MomPlan - tracking weekly chores
  • Learn how to use the “Extras” column to track appointments, sports schedules, and life events

Once again, I’m including a copy of my MomPlan with my daily and weekly chores, but you’ll personalize your MomPlan your way.

In MomPlan Video 4, you’ll:

  • learn how to use your MomPlan to create your weekly “to do” list in less than 10 minutes per week.
  • learn how to use your MomPlan to create new habits and to reach your personal goals.
  • learn practical tips and tricks for using your MomPlan to get the maximum benefit.
  • add a few bonuses to your MomPlan for extra motivation to do all of those things you say you want to do.

I’ll give you a copy of the MomPlan that I use each week to plan my time.

I’m even including a pdf transcription of each video for those of you who prefer to read rather than listen to a course.

Because you get immediate access to the entire course, you can get started right away!

You can work at your own pace.  The videos are short.  You can watch 1 video a day for the next four days or complete the entire course in one day.  It should take less than 90 minutes to watch the videos and complete your MomPlan worksheet  - start to finish.

If you’ve watched any of my videos, you know that I don’t deal a lot in theory and principles that sound good but make no difference in your everyday life.

I deliver practical teaching.  In each video, you will walk away with a tip, a strategy, or a technique that you can use right away.  Together, we’re going to delve into the nitty-gritty of time management.

I don’t want you to just listen and watch the teachings in this course, I want you to take action on them.  That’s why I’ve included the MomPlan worksheet.

Unlike most of the time management advice on the market today, this course was designed specifically for busy moms - not busy business executives.

In this course, I am not going to give you a list of rigid rules to follow in order to manage your time.  You know those rules that leave you feeling defeated the minute you break one of them.  Instead, I’ll show you how to design a time management system that is completely customizable for you.

Time management is an area in which we can all improve.  None of us is perfect, but what if I could show you a simple strategy that will give you back minutes, even hours, each and every week?

I’ve heard it said that at the end of our lives, we won’t wish for more money or more awards.  What we will wish for is more time to spend with those we love.  Time is a precious commodity.

Like me, you could spend years searching for solutions to your struggles with time management - always wondering is there a better way to do this?  You could read all of those time management books that I read, books written for business men, to find a couple of nuggets of wisdom that apply to busy moms.  Worse yet, you could keep doing what you’re doing only to realize too late that there is a better way.

How much could you spend buying magazines from the checkout lane to get one small time-saving tip?  How much time could you spend scrolling through Pinterest, Tik Tok or Instagram to follow the right person who will give you the right tip at the right time?

I’ve done the research.  I’ve read the books.

One reason I’m so passionate about teaching busy moms how to manage their time is because I know what a struggle it was for me and how difficult it was to find answers.  While writing this course, I’ve asked myself, “What do busy moms really want and need to know and how can I make it super fast and easy for them to learn it?”

How many planners have you bought in January and stopped using by February because they just didn’t work for you?

Poor time management doesn’t just cost you time.  It costs you money.

Normally, I would charge $25 for this course.  That’s about the cost of 2 magazines you might buy in the grocery store checkout line.

Because I’m passionate about helping busy moms manage their time so they can enjoy their lives, I’m offering my course to you for the deeply discounted introductory price of just $7. (I told you that I want to reach as many busy moms as possible.)

Because I really want to be of service to you, I’m also going to throw in a downloadable copy of my mini ebook Mealtime Shortcuts for Busy Moms. It includes my favorite timesaving tips for feeding your family each and every day and streamlining your time in the kitchen.

I want you to be not only satisfied with your time management course, but also excited about your it.  That’s why I’m offering a 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee.

That means no risk for you!
